49ers Announce Exciting Brock Purdy News Before Bears Matchup
The San Francisco 49ers are coming up on a special game against the Chicago Bears on Sunday, Dec. 28, and the reason it’s special is because these two teams are among the best in the NFC.
The 49ers and Bears both have an 11-4 record going into the showdown, and both have already made the playoffs, according to NFL research. So, it will be a treat to see these two talented, well-coached teams go up against each other on Sunday and perhaps in the postseason.
This game is also exciting because it pits two of the best quarterbacks in the NFC against each other: Brock Purdy of the 49ers and Caleb Williams of the Bears. Now, the 49ers have announced some special news about Purdy just days before the Chicago showdown.

On Wednesday, Dec. 24, the NFL and 49ers announced that Purdy has been named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week. The honor comes for his stellar performance in the team’s 48-27 win over the Indianapolis Colts on “Monday Night Football.”
As for stats, Purdy clocked 25 of his 34 passing attempts for 295 yards and a career-high five touchdown passes. He also closed out the game with a 126.8 passer rating.
Also, Purdy’s five touchdown throws notched him 17 on the season and 81 for his career, making him the first 49ers quarterback who has thrown five-or-more touchdowns in one game since the great Joe Montana set the franchise record in 1990.

After the team’s win over the Colts, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan had kind words, of course, about Purdy’s performance.
“He did awesome, man,” Shanahan told reporters. “Played really well. Got on him for a couple he missed, but it was pretty close to a perfect game.”
San Francisco offensive lineman Trent Williams also praised the signal caller, speaking with Scott Van Pelt of ESPN.

“He’s resilient, and he carries a certain peace about him right now that keeps him from getting rattled,” Williams said after the game on ESPN. “He’s truly confident in his abilities and fully trusts the scheme, and it radiates from him, something the whole offense can feel. He’s our leader, and we follow him.”
