49ers Star LB Fred Warner Carted off Field With Brutal Injury
The San Francisco 49ers just may be the most cursed team in the NFL when it comes to injuries.
The team was without quarterback Brock Purday on Sunday for the fourth time this season, and star tight end George Kittle has been on injured reserve ever since Week 1.
Star pass-rusher Nick Bosa is already lost for the year after suffering a season-ending ACL tear, and the team was without receivers Brandon Aiyuk, Ricky Pearsall and Jordan Watkins, edge-rusher Yetur Gross-Matos, defensive tackle Kevin Givens, offensive tackle Spencer Burford, and several others for Sunday’s Week 6 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
But the team suffered another loss just as big as Bosa’s late in the first quarter against the Bucs when star linebacker Fred Warner left with a leg injury.

Replay video showed Warner’s ankle getting trapped under teammate Ji’Ayir Brown as he tried to tackle Bucs running back Rachaad White. Warner’s ankle seemed to be dislocated, and he was carted off the field with an air cast on.
“Friendly fire right ankle injury. Fracture/dislocation with aircast. Surgery, season over. Career and next season OK
Similar to @CGtwelve_, @dak (Prescott) and #DrewAllar,” well-known sports doctor David J. Chao wrote on X.
The assumption is Warner’s season is over, but the 49ers will likely announce an official update after the game.
This is a developing story and updates will be provided when available.
