5 Matches That Deserve To Be in the WWE Hall of Fame
WWE delighted fans around the world by announcing that they would start inducting matches into the WWE Hall of Fame.
The first match inducted is none other than Bret Hart vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin at WrestleMania 13 that helped kick off the Attitude Era.

Needless to say there are a plethora of matches that are more than deserving to take their place alongside Hart vs. Austin.
Let’s take a look at some of those matches that are Hall of Fame material now or will be in the future.

Hulk Hogan vs. André the Giant – WrestleMania III
No matter how you feel about Hulk Hogan today, it cannot be denied that he is one of the biggest stars in the history of professional wrestling. And it is all because of this match here.
Despite being the face of the company, Hogan played the perfect underdog to André the Giant, who even made Hogan seem small and weak. It was a classic David and Goliath story.
Hogan scoop slamming André remains one of the greatest visuals in the history of the business. And if Hart vs. Austin wasn’t the first match in the Hall of Fame, it should be this one.
The Undertaker vs. Mankind Hell – King of the Ring 1998
Some matches are technical classics that keep you on the edge of your seat with impressive physical feats and excellent storytelling. However, others are just pure spectacles and never leave your brain. This is the latter.
After two excellent Hell in a Cell matches, Mankind and The Undertaker decided to raise the bar by taking things on top of the structure. Mankind being thrown off the top was already a sight to behold, him getting choke slammed through the ceiling was jaw-dropping.
For many people, this is the quintessential Hell in a Cell match, largely because of the iconic image of Mick Foley’s bloody grin with a tooth in his mouth.
TLC II (Edge & Christian vs. The Hardy Boyz vs. The Dudley Boyz) – WrestleMania X-7
It’s hard to think of a better tag scene in WWE than during the late 90s-early 2000s. This is largely because of Edge & Christian, The Hardy Boyz (Matt and Jeff Hardy), and The Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray and D-Von Dudley).
This was perfectly encapsulated with their various TLC matches that utilized all of their favorite weapons. The match combined the brutal nature of all three teams while also giving each member a moment in the spotlight.
Honestly, any of their TLC matches could take this spot. However, TLC II at WrestleMania X-Seven gets the slot for Edge’s iconic spear on Jeff Hardy.
Walter vs. Ilja Dragunov – WWE NXT UK #116
2020 was a tough year for professional wrestling because of the pandemic. While WWE tried many things to combat the lack of a crowd, the most successful was easily Walter vs. Ilja Dragunov on WWE NXT UK.
Other matches added unique stipulations or attempted to be more cinematic. Meanwhile, Walter (now Gunther) and Dragunov instead opted to beat the living daylights out of each other.
This remains one of the most brutal non-hardcore matches in the history of WWE. Still, it was hard to look away from what was happening, firmly establishing both wrestlers as future main eventers.
Bianca Belair vs. Sasha Banks – WrestleMania 37
At this point, only 10 women’s matches have main evented a PPV/PLE. Of those, the biggest standout is easily when Bianca Belair beat Sasha Banks (now Mercedes Moné) for the SmackDown Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 37.
Both incredible in-ring technicians, Belair and Banks told a great story and tore the house down, with many people saying it was the best match of the weekend. The final moment with Belair whipping Banks with her braid and then hitting the KOD remains one of the best moments in the modern era.
While this match seems a bit new to be inducted anytime soon, there’s no doubt that this will be looked back on like any of the matches mentioned previously on this list.
