Chiefs WR Rashee Rice’s Injury May Not Be as Bad as Initially Expected: Report
The injury to Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice may not be as bad as initially expected.
On Monday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported, “After further testing on Rice’s knee, there remains uncertainty over the extent of the injury.”
Schefter says, “After consulting with team doctors and receiving second opinions, more tests are required to determine the full extent of Rice’s injury and his recovery timeline.” According to Schefter, the team isn’t expecting to have an an answer until next week.
This doesn’t exactly feel like bad news, as the Chiefs feared Rice had torn his ACL, which would keep him out for the rest of the season. However, the team instead needs to run more tests before determining the severity of the injury.
While he still could very well have a torn ACL, it seems like a positive update that the Chiefs aren’t yet sure what it is after initial testing.
Rice left the Chiefs’ 17-10 win over the Los Angeles Chargers in the first quarter after suffering a knee injury. Rice was trying to make a tackle on an interception, and quarterback Patrick Mahomes ran into his knee.
