Today’s ‘Wordle’ #1,211 Answer, Hints and Clues for Saturday, October 12 Game
Almost three years on and Wordle is still going strong, with millions of people now tuning in every day to grapple with what can be a tricky little word game.
The game was the brainchild of New York City-based software engineer Josh Wardle, who came up with it as a way of entertaining his partner during the coronavirus lockdowns. It made its debut in 2021, and by the following January it was estimated that around 300,000 people were giving it a whirl.
Now as the three-year anniversary approaches, millions of people factor in a few minutes every day to try and work out the five-letter word.
So How Does It Work?
A new game appears every day, with a new word locked behind the little panels. Users have to try to guess the word and have only six attempts to do so.
Within these six guesses, you use a designated color system to find out which letters are present—the tiles are gray, green and yellow.
If a Wordle user guesses a letter that’s in the right place, that tile will turn green, and there is nothing quite like getting a couple of those with your first guess.
If the letter does appear in the word, but not in the place the user has guessed it, it will turn yellow—not great, but not bad.
If the letter doesn’t appear in the word at all, the tile will turn gray and that letter can be discarded and omitted from future guesses.
The answer to Saturday’s Wordle will be revealed at the end of this article, so make sure you scroll down the page carefully if you want to avoid the spoiler and figure it out for yourself.
