Today’s ‘Wordle’ #1,228 Hints, Clues and Answer for Tuesday, October 29
Tuesday’s Wordle isn’t the easiest, with a combination of letters that some players may find difficult to turn into the winning word.
The much-loved word quiz is just the right balance when it comes to skill level—not easy enough to bore us, but not hard enough to put us off. And there is no shame in struggling to crack one of the brainteasers—its creator Josh Wardle has previously revealed that he is “not very good at it” himself.
The New York City-based software engineer developed the game in 2021 as a way of entertaining his partner during the coronavirus lockdowns, and he told Newsweek that they sit on the couch together every morning and play it.
“She will consistently get it in three goes, which is way, way better than I can ever hope to achieve,” he said. “I normally need at least 4 or 5 attempts.” “I’m afraid I’m not really the best,” he confessed.
So How Does Wordle Work?
The game asks users to guess a hidden five-letter word, and they have just six guesses to do so.
The secret word is hidden behind tiles and after each guess colors show what you’ve got wrong and what you’ve got right. If the letter is gray it means it isn’t a part of the secret word and can be discarded. Yellow tiles indicate that the letter is in the word, but that it’s in the wrong place. And then there is the holy grail of tiles, the green, which means the letter is right and is in the right place.
There is only one Wordle a day but it resets every night at midnight, so with every new morning comes a fresh crack at the puzzle.
Tuesday’s Wordle word is revealed at the end of this Newsweek article. So if you want to avoid seeing it, scroll down carefully to make sure you just see the clues and not the answer.
