Three Additional Reds To Enter Free Agency; One Fan Favorite Inks New Deal

It was a busy day for the Cincinnati Reds.
Earlier Friday, the Reds announced a plethora of roster moves. The moves included outrighting four players — Nick Martini, Austin Wynns, Tejay Antone and Ty France — to Triple-A Louisville. France and Martini would elect free agency over their assignment to Triple-A.
Later, the Reds announced even more moves — some that will excite Reds fans and others that will hurt their hearts.
Starting with a player they’ll retain, the Reds announced they had re-signed left-handed pitcher Brent Suter to a one-year contract that includes a club option for 2026. The deal will pay Suter $2.25 million in 2025 with the club option in 2026 being worth $3 million.
Suter, a graduate of Archbishop Moeller High School in Cincinnati, is a beloved member of the Reds and the Cincinnati community. He made 47 appearances in 2024, where he held a 3.15 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP.

But several other players could be on their way out of the Queen City.
Pitcher Nick Martinez, for one, declined his player option, and pitcher Jakob Junis declined his mutual option.
Martinez, 34, held a 3.10 ERA across 142.1 innings with the Reds. He bounced between the starting rotation and the bullpen before injuries forced him into a starting role down the stretch of the season. Martinez exceled toward the end of the year and quickly became a fan (and clubhouse) favorite.
Junis was acquired from the Milwaukee Brewers at the trade deadline in the deal that sent Frankie Montas to Milwaukee. The righty made 14 appearances with the Reds, holding a 2.85 ERA in 41 innings.
Cincinnati also announced the team had declined veteran catcher Luke Maile’s club option, making him a free agent as well. Despite his popularity, Maile’s play on the field hadn’t been up to par for a team with postseason aspirations.
