CNN Exit poll: 70% of North Carolina Voters Unhappy With Country’s Direction

Seventy percent of North Carolina voters said they are unhappy with the direction of the United States, according to CNN’s exit poll.

Only six percent of North Carolina voters said they are “enthusiastic” about how things are going, while 21 percent said they are “satisfied.” Forty-three percent said they are “dissatisfied,” and 27 percent are “angry” about the direction of the country.

The results are in-line with polls, which for months have signaled that many Americans are unhappy with the state of government.

In further positive signs for Trump, 36 percent of voters cited the economy as the most important factor in the election, and 46 percent felt federal hurricane aid had not been well used.

With 16 Electoral College votes up for grabs, North Carolina is central to one of the two sure-fire routes to the White House for Trump.

If the former president can secure North Carolina – which he managed in 2020 by just 70,000 votes – as well as Pennsylvania and Georgia, he’ll have hit the magic 270 Electoral College votes needed for his second term.

North Carolina shifted from a so-called lean Republican state to a toss-up state after Harris joined the presidential race in July. Ahead of November 5, former President Donald Trump was predicted to take the state with a 1.1-point lead, according to FiveThirtyEight on October 30.
