Joe Rogan Appears to ‘Tear Up’ During Podcast—’No One Caught It’

Joe Rogan had an emotional moment as he spoke on his podcast with fellow comedian Theon Von about their friendship recently.

The powerhouse podcaster welcomed Von onto his popular show, The Joe Rogan Experience, where the two questioned COVID-19 vaccines.

“I never took it. And guess what? Doing great,” Von said, before adding that he is living with back pain and “suffering from depression.”

“You are suffering from depression because you’re not hanging around with us,” Texas-based Rogan responded. “Come hang out here, man. Come move.”

“Bro, if you lived in town, you’d be hanging out all the time. You’d feel better,” the former Fear Factor host told Von. “You need a little community. I know you, dude—you get weird. When you’re by yourself too long, you get weird.”

“I spend a lot of time by myself,” Von conceded, as Rogan shared: “You called to check if people still like you.”

“Did I really do that?” Von asked, to which Rogan responded with a laugh: “One time you did. I was like, ‘What are you talking about?’ ‘Yeah, man, just wanted to make sure we’re cool.’ ‘Like, of course we’re cool. What are you talking about? What happened?’ Nothing, just we ain’t talked for a while.”

Von sounded shocked at the revelation, though added that he believed Rogan “100 percent.”

“It was a weird conversation,” Rogan said. “But I know you, man. So when you call me, I’m like, ‘Oh, Theo just needs some love. You know, you’re out there in the woods by yourself.”

Rogan then appeared to become particularly emotional as he told Von with a deep sigh and quivered voice: “[You] can’t be alone, man.”

The heartfelt moment sparked a discussion among YouTube users, one of whom wrote: “Rogan actually tears up for a sec and no one caught it. That was a loving moment to see between two bros. We need to love each other more.”

“I love how Joe is a true friend and picks up quickly on how to allow Theo to relax and speak comfortably and confidently. Good guys,” read another comment on the streaming platform. “Love their respect for each other.”

“The best thing is Joe reminding Theo to hang out with the guys!” another stated.
“He knows how important that is!”

“I could relate to [Von’s] energy and loved that Joe picked up on it straight away,” said another viewer. “He’s spot on about how much community matters, too. I’m glad authenticity seems to be on the upswing recently in general.”

For his part, Von sought to explain his reasons for solitude, telling Rogan: “I think part of me, I’ve always just wanted to do, like, my own thing, you know. But then you start to realize that… you’re doing it by yourself.

“And I think that goes like, whether it’s work relationships or personal relationships too… I think it’s just like it’s been the same psychology for me.”

“I’ll think to myself, I want to be in a relationship, but I want to do it on my own,” Von added, raising raucous laughter from host Rogan.

“You can marry yourself—people do that,” Rogan suggested.

“Oh, I would hate that, dude,” Von responded, as he joked about chasing himself around in pursuit of affection.
