Two Children Among Five Found Dead in Apparent Georgia Murder-Suicide
Two children and three adults have died in an apparent murder-suicide in Georgia.
Five people, including a 1-year-old boy and a 5-year-old girl, were found dead in an apartment on Vineyard Walk in the east of Atlanta on Saturday evening, according to a report by Fox 5 Atlanta.
The five victims—a 43-year-old woman, 32-year-old man, 26-year-old woman, 5-year-old girl and a 1-year-old boy—were found dead from apparent gunshot wounds.
Fox 5 reported that police are investigating the incident as a “domestic-related murder-suicide” after being called to conduct a welfare check just before 7:30 p.m. on December 7.
Newsweek has contacted DeKalb County Police Department for more information via email outside of regular working hours.
Research conducted by the Violence Policy Center has found that there around 10 murder-suicides in the U.S. every week, with some 78 percent of these taking place in the home. Nearly 1,200 Americans die in murder-suicides every year, with nine out of 10 incidents involving a gun.
