Hysterics as Mom Tries To Enjoy Childfree Morning, It Doesn’t Go To Plan

A dog owner’s plan to enjoy her child-free morning without worries failed when her Doberman pinscher came up to her with a very specific request that she couldn’t refuse.

In a viral TikTok shared in November under the username @honkifyoulovemydog, the poster can be seen sipping her coffee while trying to have a chill morning. Her pup, Cowboy, then suddenly walks up to her holding his stuffed caterpillar toy in his mouth, demanding that it is playtime.

“Just enjoying a child-free peaceful morning,” reads layover text in the clip. A caption says: “Nothing but peace and quiet over here.” Newsweek reached out to @honkifyoulovemydog for comment via email. We could not verify the details of the case.

Most American dog owners treat their pups as an effective member of the family; a 2019 YouGov survey found that almost 90 percent of 1,275 adult respondents said so.

Moreover, about 66 percent of owners allow their pet to sleep in bed with them, and at least 54 percent buy them presents during the holiday season, while 50 percent allow them to lick their face. Almost half of American dog owners celebrates their pets’ birthday, while 37 percent cook food specifically for them, and 16 percent take them to work.

There is no doubt that dog owners would do everything for their companions, but do our pups love us as much as we love them?

The American Kennel Club says that dogs are indeed able to form strong bonds with their owners, which some might interpret as love. A study also found that our pups’ oxytocin [the love drug] levels raise when they interact with us.

But how do you know if your pup truly loves you? British animal charity Blue Cross says that relaxed eye contact, tail wagging, excited greetings, laying near you and licking you are all signs that your dog loves you as much as you love them.

The video quickly went viral on social media and has so far received over 1.5 million views and almost 320,000 likes on the platform.

One user, Camila Santos, commented: “Is the child free in the room with us?”

Kenishka posted: “I love how insistent they get too like you must not have noticed them or the toy so they need to shove it closer to your face.”

Esephiroth added: “Ma’am I’m gonna hold your hand when I say this—that’s your child.”
