UnitedHealthcare CEO Shooting Suspect Wasn’t a Client, Police Say
New York City Police Department (NYPD) officials on Thursday said they have no evidence showing that Luigi Mangione, 26, who’s accused of fatally shooting UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, was a client of the insurer.
“We have no indication that he was ever a client of United Healthcare, but he does make mention that it is the fifth largest corporation in America, which would make it the largest healthcare organization in America,” NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny said Thursday. “So that’s possibly why he targeted that company.”
This is a developing story and will be updated with further information.
