Travis Kelce Surprises Taylor Swift with Gift at Post-‘Eras Tour’ Party
Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors
Travis Kelce surprised his girlfriend Taylor Swift with a party and a present that holds special meaning for her and some lucky young fans who attended her Eras Tour.
The 35-year-old Chiefs tight end threw the bash on Thursday, December 18, in Kansas City as a way for the singer to celebrate the end of her nearly two-year show. Guests included Swift’s best friend, Ashley Avignone, along with Kelce’s quarterback teammate, Patrick Mahomes, and Chiefs WAGS, Brittany Mahomes and Lyndsay Bell.
The next day, Avignone shared an Instagram story showing Kelce wearing a top hat and placing a black fedora on his girlfriend’s head. The caption read: “and the last 22 hat goes to…”
The reference was to Swift’s Eras Tour tradition of presenting a similar hat to a fan waiting at the end of the stage during her performance of the hit song “22” from her Red album. Videos of the fun nightly ritual were shared widely on TikTok and other social media platforms throughout the tour.
Avignone also gave fans more Insta glimpses of the Eras Tour-themed party, including photos of a replica cleaning cart like the one Swift famously used to travel between her dressing room and the stage, as well as snaps of partygoers dressed in green capes — a nod to the outfit Swift wore while singing her Evermore song “Willow.”
“When she thought she was going to a small, quiet dinner but it was actually a giant surprise party with her friends and family, props included,” Avignone captioned the playful series of shots.
In addition to celebrating the end of Swift’s $2 billion Eras Tour, Kelce also marked the performer’s 35th birthday on December 13 by sharing a video of their first official public appearance as a couple in September 2023.
