Garrett Smithley Announces Full-Time Return For 2025 NASCAR Xfinity Season
SS-GreenLight Racing has unveiled its latest driver signing for the 2025 NASCAR Xfinity Series season. Garrett Smithley has been announced as the full-time driver for the team’s No. 14 Chevrolet Camaro.
Smithley’s role in the 2025 series marks his return to a full-time racing schedule after a hiatus since 2019. His connection with SS-GreenLight Racing isn’t new; he has driven for the team in the past, participating in 11 races and securing a top-10 position at the Talladega Superspeedway in 2020.
Speaking about this renewed partnership, Smithley said, as quoted by TobyChristie.com:
“I’m incredibly excited and grateful to be a full-time driver at SS Greenlight Racing.
“I haven’t been full-time since 2019 so beyond, excited to get to work with Bobby and Jason Miller. Daytona can’t come soon enough!”
The team’s announcement also brings back excitement for longtime partners. Trophy Tractor, a steadfast supporter of Smithley, will serve as the anchor partner throughout the forthcoming season. Bobby Dotter, the team owner, shared his confidence in Smithley’s capabilities, saying:
“We are really excited to have Garret back, his experience will be crucial to succeeding in 2025.
“When Garrett has raced for us in the past he did a stellar job and we look forward to building on that success.”
A vital part of the dynamics is the role of veteran crew chief Jason Miller, who will be at the helm once more to guide Smithley in 2025. Despite a controversial incident in 2024, which saw Miller temporarily suspended following an altercation at Atlanta, his role is vital for the team’s aspirations in the new season.
Owned by Bobby Dotter, who himself is a former driver, SS-GreenLight Racing has thrived since its inception from the merger of SS Racing and Green Light Racing in 2008.
Smithley’s experience spans 180 career NASCAR Xfinity Series starts, during which he has achieved one top-five finish and five top-10s. Given the technical alliance that SS-GreenLight Racing has had with prominent teams like Richard Childress Racing and its recent collaboration with Kaulig Racing, the team is positioned to leverage these partnerships for technical and competitive gains.
