Hearts Melt as Corgi Who Loves Digging on the Couch Gets Perfect Surprise

Internet users have rejoiced after a corgi who loves to dig on the couch received the best gift he could ever imagine—his very own miniature sofa.

The heartwarming video was shared on TikTok by @tuckerontiktok, showing the corgi pup, named Tucker, doing what he does best on the couch. It’s not sleeping or stretching out, but rather, digging. Footage captured by Tucker’s owner, Olivia (who doesn’t wish to share her full name), shows him endlessly scratching the sofa cushions, as though he’s looking for something underneath.

Olivia, of New York City, told Newsweek that he did this every day and left multiple “holes in the sofa.” After many months, she eventually decided enough was enough and they looked to find a solution to the ongoing dilemma. She didn’t want Tucker completely ruining her couch beyond repair, so instead, she gave him his very own miniature version.

“Tucker wasn’t happy digging anywhere but the couch, so the only alternative was to get something that looked exactly like ours for him,” Olivia said. “He was confused why the couch was so small, but now he has started eating this couch instead more than digging it.”

After surprising Tucker with his own dog-sized couch, the video shows him happily digging on that one instead. He certainly seems to like having his own sofa, and internet users have praised his owner’s generous gift.

Since the footage was shared on TikTok, it has melted hearts and generated more than 416,600 views and over 54,000 likes in a matter of days.

There’s a variety of reasons as to why dogs might dig, whether it’s to escape, to get attention, or just the sheer entertainment they get from it. The Humane Society explains that it could be a habit they develop out of boredom, especially if they’re left alone for long periods of time, and if they don’t have any other outlets for their energy (such as siblings, toys, regular walks).

Digging can also be a sign that they’re searching for comfort and protection, as they attempt to dig a hole to lie down in. Or indeed, if they receive lots of attention every time they start digging, they’ll learn to keep doing it because they enjoy the interaction. In those instances, the Humane Society recommends rewarding good behavior and ignoring any attention-seeking antics.

Whatever the reason may be, dogs shouldn’t be punished at a later stage because they won’t understand this delayed reaction. Another helpful tip is to find any outdoor holes they’ve dug and fill them with water. This might just deter them from trying it again.

The video of Tucker finally getting his own miniature couch has delighted plenty of internet users, as many people praised Olivia for giving the pup everything he deserves. She’s loved the positive response to the video, and couldn’t be happier with Tucker’s new gift.

Among the comments on the viral TikTok video, one person wrote: “He’s busy making biscuits!”

Another TikTok user responded: “Oh my gosh, that is hysterical. What a great idea to give him his own couch.”

“Tucker really is living his best life,” joked another social media user.

While one person added: “It’s a dream come true!”
