Jon Heyman Latest Insider To Report Red Sox Want Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
The Red Sox-Vladimir Guerrero Jr. noise is growing louder.
Multiple recent reports indicate Boston would be the top suitor for Guerrero if the star first baseman hits free agency next offseason. Guerrero, 25, is entering the final year of his deal with the Toronto Blue Jays and has said he doesn’t want to engage in contract talks after the start of spring training.
On Wednesday, Jon Heyman became the latest MLB insider to report about the Red Sox’s interest in landing Guerrero.
“I do think they’re interested in Vlad Guerrero. That one I’ll say,” Heyman said on Bleacher Report’s “B/R Walk-Off” stream. “I do think that they love Vlad Guerrero over in Boston and as a free agent, if he doesn’t sign with the Blue Jays, I’m saying Boston might have a good shot there.”

Some reports suggest the Blue Jays could trade Guerrero before this season if they believe contract talks will be futile. Heyman isn’t buying it, though.
“As far as a trade goes, as I’ve said, I’ll be stunned if Vlad Guerrero is traded,” Heyman said.
Guerrero, a four-time All-Star, hit .323 with 30 homers and a .940 OPS in 159 games last season. He finished sixth in American League MVP voting.
