Frankie Muniz Opens Up On Juggling ‘Malcom In The Middle’ Revival Filming With NASCAR

Frankie Muniz is preparing for a busy year as he is set to star in the revival of ‘Malcolm in the Middle’ while staying committed to his budding NASCAR career.
Disney+ announced that the beloved sitcom from the early 2000s is making a comeback with Muniz reprising his role as Malcolm and Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek returning as his parents, Hal and Lois.

The upcoming revival of ‘Malcolm in the Middle’ will be a limited four-episode run on Disney+, focusing on Malcolm and his daughter being thrown back into family chaos for Hal and Lois’s 40th wedding anniversary party.

The original series creator, Linwood Boomer, is returning to guide the show once again.
Frankie Muniz’s journey into racing began in 2023 when he stepped into the ARCA Menards Series. Since then, the actor has had stints in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and Craftsman Truck Series. The 2025 season marks his full-time commitment to the latter, competing in 25 races. He is racing for Reaume Brothers Racing.

Muniz’s new dual commitment brings with it an unprecedented level of flexibility for the streaming production team. In April, when filming kicks off, the production will be tailored around his NASCAR obligations.
His filming schedule is set to run from Sunday to Thursday each week, freeing up his evenings to travel for various NASCAR events.
Frankie Muniz explained how he will juggle both commitments during an interview with FOX Sports reporter Bob Pockrass:
“We have been talking about doing like a reboot — a reunion show of Malcolm — I think for over 10 years now; before all the reboots started coming back.
“They’re working around my NASCAR schedule.
“They told me I’m the first person they’ve ever had to work around a schedule [with] because normally an actor is just committed to the acting, but obviously I was a racecar driver before they greenlit the show.”

Muniz previously opened up on his transition from acting to NASCAR, stating, as reported by Newsweek Sports:
“The one amazing thing about [NASCAR] that I love, definitely compared to being an actor, is it’s not subjective.I can think I did a great job in the movie and think I did a good job acting, I put my soul into a character and people see that and they were like meh, it was okay.
“[In NASCAR] if you’re good and you belong, you’re at the top of the leaderboard. At least [you] can see where you stand. I love that.”
