Travis Kelce’s Nod to Taylor Swift on ‘Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?’
Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors
Travis Kelce turned a Taylor Swift reference into a laugh-out-loud moment on Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?
In a teaser for an upcoming episode of the Amazon Prime show, which will drop on Wednesday, January 29, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end read a math problem with a playful nod to his superstar girlfriend.
“Nicole has 98 beads to make six friendship bracelets,” Kelce, 35, read, referencing the bracelet-swapping trend popularized by Swift’s Eras Tour. The audience erupted with laughter, prompting Kelce to feign confusion, asking, “What’s so funny, guys?”

Contestant and comedian Nicole Byer jumped in, joking, “They’re laughing that I have six friends.” Kelce laughed along before continuing the question about leftover beads.
Reality star Lala Kent, another contestant, couldn’t resist a playful jab, asking, “Travis, do you know anyone that likes friendship bracelets and things like that?” Kelce responded, “I know a few. Might have converted them into a Chiefs fan. I don’t know. We’ll see,” a pretty clear reference to Swift, 35, who was notably a Philadelphia Eagles fan before she started dating the tight-end.

In case you don’t remember, a friendship bracelet is also how the duo’s relationship initially kicked-off — thanks to a moment at a Chiefs game. Back in July 2023, Kelce revealed on his podcast New Heights that he tried to catch the 14-time Grammy winner’s attention by giving her a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it at one of her Eras Tour concerts. Swift didn’t take the bait at first, but Kelce’s playful attempt at connecting with her sparked the beginning of their romance.
This isn’t the first time Kelce has subtly acknowledged his relationship with Swift on the game show either. In a December 2024 episode, a trivia question about Lady Gaga prompted a contestant to discuss Swift. “We don’t love [Lady Gaga] as much as, like, any other blond singers, you know. Like, there’s some other blond singers that we like more than Lady Gaga,” the player noted, to which Kelce responded with a smile, saying, “I’ll have to agree with you on that. I do concur.”
