Woman Goes to the Bathroom at 5:15 a.m., Gets Surprise Company
While on an early morning toilet break, a woman from Hampshire, in southern England, noticed an unexpected guest joining her, and she managed to catch him on camera.
The video, shared on TikTok on Friday under the username @_denisacostin_, shows the poster struggling to keep her eyes open as she sits in the bathroom at five in the morning, before turning the camera around to show the intruder, looking just as sleepy as her.
“It’s 05:15 and your neighbor’s cat decided to join you on your toilet break,” the caption says, as the white fluffy cat softly meows at the camera before moving his gaze back toward the poster.
If you’re a cat owner you probably don’t know what privacy means anymore, and that’s not because they’re trying to be disrespectful of your boundaries, but rather because they are incredibly curious creatures.
A Catster article medically reviewed by Dr. Luqman Javed explains that curiosity in cats is a result of their intelligence, but it is also due to their territorial nature. Cats love having a clear view of their territory and being in control in case threats arise.
As hunters, curiosity also emerges from their primal instinct to hunt for food, even though they no longer need to fight for survival.
And lastly, your cat may just be trying to get your attention by following you around and watching everything that you do, mostly because they are happy to be around you and just want to be petted.
According to a Vet Explains Pets article written by Dr. Jess Kirk, while their curiosity is instinctual and can’t be stopped, providing them with safe outlets like interactive toys and scratching posts can help redirect their energy somewhere more convenient for you.
The video went viral on social media and it has so far received over 1.4 million views and 328,100 likes on the platform.
One user, Guccio08, commented: “As a primordial instinct, they know the others in the pack are vulnerable to attacks when pooping, so they protect them. This small ghost was protecting you.”
Jenna Comaty said: “That cat probably annoys like 10 families from 3-5 AM.”
Sam added: “All fun and games til it shows up with a gopro on its collar.”
Diana Gl wrote: “So thoughtful. Who knows what could have happened if you went there by yourself as usual.”
