Nintendo Switch 2 Direct Times Have Been Revealed
Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors
Nintendo officially revealed the Nintendo Switch 2 last month, showing off a console that looked very similar to its predecessor, albeit larger and slicker. At the time, the company also revealed that a Nintendo Direct stream focused on the Switch 2would take place in early April, and now it’s committed an exact time to the presentation.

Nintendo has revealed on Twitter and its official website that the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct will take place on April 2, 2025, at 9:00am EST. Here’s what that translates to for other time zones:
- PST – 6:00am
- CST (US) – 8:00am
- EST – 9:00am
- BRT – 10:00am
- BST – 2:00pm
- CEST – 3:00pm
- IST – 6:30pm
- CST (China) – 9:00pm
- JST – 10:00pm
- AEDT – 12:00am midnight (April 3)
- NZDT – 2:00am (April 3)
The company stopped short of revealing how long the presentation would be, but it’s expected to be roughly in line with the original Switch’s Nintendo Direct presentation, which ran for roughly 40 minutes. Nintendo says that viewers will be able to get “a closer look at Nintendo Switch 2,” and the presentation is likely to include details about the Switch 2’s hardware and its upcoming games.
Nintendo revealed the successor to the Switch in January after months of speculation and leaks. Images of the console had started appearing online, with what appeared to be the final design circulating on internet forums and social media.
The reveal trailer showed the console’s design, which includes a larger screen and Joy-Con controllers, multiple USB-C ports, and seemingly the capability to use a Joy-Con like a mouse with the help of a new Joy-Con strap attachment. The trailer also showed a brand-new Mario Kart game, featuring what appears to be a new design for characters such as Donkey Kong, larger maps, and potentially more players per race.
The Nintendo Switch 2 will be released at some point in 2025, but those interested in the console will be able to try it out for free with the Nintendo Switch 2 experience.
