Woman Complains to Coworker She’s Cold, Gets Surprise on Desk Next Day
When a woman mentioned to her coworker that she was freezing during her walk to work, she never expected the sweet surprise awaiting her the next day.
She posted a video about it on TikTok, which went viral for revealing that her colleague had knitted her an entire headband overnight in response to her complaint about being cold. Since the video was posted, it has received over 3 million views and nearly 430,000 likes, with people declaring that “kindness is still alive.”
“Yesterday, I complained to a coworker that I was freezing from my walk to work because I can’t wear a hat with my hair up,” the creator, posting as @anniestranberg, wrote in the caption. “Today, I came into this on my desk. She went home last night and knit this.”

A Handmade Gift
The following morning, the woman was greeted by the gift left on her desk: a handmade white headband. The thoughtful gesture immediately caught the attention of viewers, who were quick to praise the kindness shown by the coworker and relate it to their own stories of homemade gifts—or sometimes, lack thereof.
“I work in a pharmacy, and I complimented an older lady’s scarf, gushed over it because it looked so warm and she told me she made it,” another commenter wrote. “Guess who knitted one for me. I wear it every winter.”
“One time my coworker complimented our other coworker that her gloves were so pretty. She decided to buy her a pair without asking her and sent her the receipt to pay her back,” one person shared in contrast.
Another viewer shared an emotional memory from their time working at a bookshop.
“In a bookshop I used to work at, I’d always order ‘books on tape’ for an elderly blind lady,” they wrote. “On my last day, she gifted me a blanket she had finger-knit for me. I sobbed.”
Newsweek reached out to @anniestranberg for comment via TikTok.
Small Acts of Kindness
The thoughtful gestures continued with one user remembering their experience of a coworker who knit hand towels for her bathroom, knowing it was her first apartment, and she didn’t have a family to gift her anything. “She knit me a blanket for my birthday too,” the person added.
Another user shared how a small act of kindness at McDonald’s left a lasting impression: “One time a lady who works at McDonald’s complimented my mittens that my grandma knitted. I brought her a new pair from my grandma the next week and she was so happy she smiled, put them right on and showed all of her coworkers.”
Whether it’s a scarf, a blanket or just a kind word—these gestures, on and offline, reflect how the simplest acts can create lasting connections.
