Fans React to George Lopez’s New Unrecognizable Look

When George Lopez walked down the “Spirit Tunnel” at the Jennifer Hudson Show — the studio hallway where crew members hype up celebrity guests just before they hit the stage — his dramatic new look left viewers in shock.

While many Spirit Tunnel videos go viral, the clip of the 63-year-old comedian racked up more than 35 million views after the Jennifer Hudson Show‘s official X account shared it on Tuesday, February 13.

The George Lopez sitcom alum, who has typically worn his black hair short over the past few decades, looked drastically different during his appearance on Hudson’s talk show, rocking bushy gray hair that had many fans doing a double (and for some, a triple) take — comparing Lopez to everyone from Albert Einstein to famed abolitionist Frederick Douglass.

Tens of thousands of people immediately began trolling him on X.

“He look like when trees come to life and tell stories,” one person quipped.

“Looking like Mufasa grandpa,” another wrote, referring to The Lion King.

Another person referenced Hagrid from Harry Potter. “He looking like he about to tell Harry that he’s a wizard,” they posted.

“he looks like if Einstein discovered 4loko,” joked someone else.

“Somebody said it’s giving the Lorax help ,” an X user tweeted.

Others called out Lopez’s past drama, with some mentioning his divorce from longtime wife Ann Serrano. Serrano, who shares 28-year-old daughter Mayan with Lopez, famously gave the actor her kidney in 2005. She filed for divorce five years later.

Others cited a racially-charged comment Lopez made in a 2017 stand-up routine.

“There’s still two rules in the f***ing Latino family,” he said at the time. “Don’t marry somebody black, and don’t park in front of our house.”

After a female audience member stood up to give him the middle finger, Lopez called her a “b****h.”

Three years later, after the 2020 death of George Floyd, Lopez has been vocal about the importance of Latinx people joining the Black Lives Matter movement.
