Why Ryan Seacrest’s ‘Knees Are Aching’ After Surprising Vanna White

Although Ryan Seacrest is in good enough shape for breakdancing, even he gets tired from time to time. After crouching in Wheel of Fortune co-host Vanna White’s dressing room to surprise her for her birthday, the 49-year-old TV presenter said his knees were “aching.”
Vanna, who turned 68 on Tuesday, February 18, was greeted in her dressing room by Maggie Sajak, Wheel of Fortune‘s social media correspondent, who was holding a cake. “What’s this?” she asked. As Maggie, the 30-year-old daughter of former host Pat Sajak, presented White with the cake, the surprise continued as Seacrest popped up from behind a dresser. Maggie and Seacrest went on to sing “Happy Birthday” before asking White if they surprised her. “You did,” Vanna replied.

Seacrest was relieved that they’d pulled off the surprise, saying that he’d been crouching “down there for 45 minutes. My knees are aching.”
Maggie added on, joking, “He’s exhausted.”
White had a little trouble blowing out the candles, even accusing her co-stars of getting “fake candles,” which they denied before exchanging hugs and birthday wishes.
“We just had to surprise Vanna for her birthday! 🎂” read the Instagram caption, continuing. “Happiest of birthdays to the one and only, Vanna White!”
Fans of the show were quick to add their well-wishes. “HAPPY BORN DAY TO THE WORLD’S BEST LETTER TURNER OF ALL TIME VANNA WHITE!!!!!” wrote one enthusiastic Instagram user. “Happy birthday Vanna, love the show with you and Ryan!” added another. Another praised the combination of the two hosts, writing, “Ryan and Vanna have awesome chemistry! Ya’ll are fun together!”
Seacrest joined the show in September 2024, and while some of his moves as host have received criticism, many fans have praised the dynamic between him and his co-host. Pat Sajak had previously hosted 41 seasons of the game show.
