Hardy Boyz Rumored to Have WWE Main Roster Program Soon: Report

The Hardy Boyz (Matt & Jeff Hardy) are set to return to WWE NXT for a one-off match, but this appearance could potentially lead to an extended run. The future WWE Hall of Famers will face No Quarter Catch Crew (Tavion Heights & Myles Borne) on the February 25 episode of NXT.

Matt Hardy will make history with this match, setting a record for the longest hiatus between NXT appearances. His 15-year gap, dating back to the brand’s inaugural season in March 2010, exceeds Carlito’s previous record.

Ahead of their return, WWEShop.com has released a special edition Hardy Boyz t-shirt, labeled as a “special event item.” On his podcast, Matt Hardy revealed that the deal came together at the last minute:

“All this stuff — even us popping up and responding to that challenge on NXT, that was a very last-minute thing,” Hardy said. “So it’s going to be interesting. It’s going to be fun. I don’t know where this ride’s going. I really don’t want to know where this route is going in all capacities. Because I want, especially whatever we end up doing, I want everything to be as natural and as organic and as real as possible, as authentic as possible.”

Today, WrestleVotes reported that there is internal buzz suggesting this could be more than just a one-time appearance. The account tweeted:

“WWE has dropped a brand new Hardy Boyz shirt ahead of their NXT return tonight. Internally, there’s buzz that this is just the beginning, with creative sources optimistic the legendary duo will have a main roster program sometime this spring/summer.”

This appearance marks the latest crossover between WWE and TNA, as The Hardy Boyz are still under contract with TNA. In January, WWE and TNA announced a multi-year partnership designed to create unprecedented crossover opportunities between the two promotions.

This agreement allows talent to gain additional exposure across NXT, TNA iMPACT!, select WWE Premium Live Events, and TNA pay-per-views, providing opportunities for in-ring development and collaboration with world-class talent and coaching.

The tag team rose to prominence during the “Attitude Era” of WWE. They achieved significant success as a tag team, winning multiple WWE Tag Team Championships and a key part of the evolution of tag team wrestling in the late 1990s and early 2000s. On their own, both stars had successful singles careers in WWE, with each winning world championships.

The Hardy Boyz have had several returns to WWE over the years. Their return at WrestleMania 33 in 2017 was a particularly memorable moment before Matt left in 2020 and Jeff in 2021.
