Woman Finds $1.2K Designer Boots for Fraction of the Price, Has One Regret
A seasoned thrift-store shopper has sparked excitement after discovering a pair of what she believed to be Chanel boots in a thrift store.
Jo, who posts on TikTok under the handle @dayoutgirl, shared a video of a pair of black knee-high boots which she found in a newly opened hospice charity shop in Glasgow in the U.K. The price tag? Just £25 (around $31)—compared with the original retail price of around £980 ($1,200).
“I had walked past the boots and only noticed them when I was trying on a jacket and realised they had the Chanel logo,” Jo told Newsweek. “I was surprised and wanted to take a video for my TikTok. Now, whenever I see designer items in charity shops, I take pics or videos to share on TikTok and show people what cool stuff they can find. Shopping sustainably is where you find real gems.”
However, despite the incredible find, Jo left the boots behind as they were too small for her—something she now regrets. “They were a size 4, and I do regret leaving them as my sister now said she would have worn them,” she said.

Jo’s TikTok post quickly gained attention, racking up hundreds of likes and comments.
One user, @pb0807, posted: “I’d def of got those. Gorgeous.”
Another, @Laura.Lou90, wrote: “Why wouldn’t you? You can’t even get a standard pair of knee-high boots from a high street store for that, and even if they aren’t real, they still look great.”
@Rebecca.loves.TheNorth wrote: “I would die if I found these! You’re so lucky.”
However, some users questioned the authenticity of the boots. One skeptical commenter, @dartybb, wrote: “Not real bbz.”
This isn’t the first time Jo has gained attention for her thrifting finds. Last year, she went viral after stumbling upon what appeared to be a Cartier bracelet in a thrift store—though it was later revealed to be an imitation.
Jo’s TikTok page is dedicated to showcasing her second-hand discoveries and she hopes to turn her passion into a professional venture. “I post and share my finds on TikTok as eventually I want to offer personalized styling services from charity shop finds,” she said. “I already sell curated vintage homeware at thrift markets in Glasgow.”
Her next thrift stop? Paris, where she plans to revisit the city’s renowned thrift markets and hopefully find some treasures after uncovering a genuine Hermès bag during her last trip.
