Macaulay Culkin Reacts to Brother Kieran’s Oscar Win
Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors
Macaulay Culkin couldn’t be prouder of his brother Kieran’s big Oscar win – even if he was left out of his acceptance speech.
Per People, Macaulay and wife Brenda Song shared their thoughts on Kieran’s victory in the Best Supporting Actor category at the 2025 Vanity Fair Oscar party on Sunday. March 2. The actor won for his role in A Real Pain.
“I just watched Best Supporting Actor, that’s the only thing I watched. True story,” the Home Alone actor joked to correspondent Tan France, admitting he shed a few tears over his brother’s achievement. “I cried… and I was like, ‘I’m gonna see you later.'”

Macaulay, 44, and Song, 36, were confident Kieran, 42, would take home the statue at the 97th Academy Awards, with the former Disney star saying, “Of course! Let’s be real. We’re allowed to say that.” Macaulay chimed in, agreeing, “Yeah, absolutely.”
Kieran’s win was a big moment, as he bested nominees like Yura Borisov, Edward Norton, Guy Pearce, and Jeremy Strong. While accepting the award, he thanked his manager, parents, and joked about his wife, Jazz Charton, but notably left out mentioning his older bro.

The Succession star made quite the promise to Charton during his acceptance speech, recalling a promise she made when he won his Emmy in 2024. Kieran explained that his wife had promised him a third child if he won the award, but after he took home the Oscar, he cheekily told her he now wanted four. “She turned to me and said, ‘I will give you four when you win an Oscar,'” Kieran said, teasingly calling her out in front of the audience. As he concluded his speech, he joked, “No pressure, I love you, I’m really sorry I did this again… And let’s get cracking on those kids.”
Kieran and Charton share two children, daughter Kinsey Sioux, 5, and son Wilder Wolf, 3. They have been married since 2013.
