Top 4 Things We Learned From the ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Premiere
Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors
It’s been seven years since Charlie Cox and co. were part of Netflix’s “Daredevil” and the premiere of “Daredevil: Born Again” spares no time radically changing the status quo. By the end of the two-episode premiere, old friends are gone, old enemies have changed, and Matt Murdock’s (Cox) world isn’t quite the same.

Here are some of the biggest things we learned in the premiere of “Daredevil: Born Again”.

DISNEY
Benjamin Pointdexter Embraces His Bullseye Persona
Rather than the assassin without a past of Marvel Comics, Netflix’s “Daredevil” put Wilson Bethel’s Benjamin Pointdexter on the path to becoming Bullseye through the expert manipulation of Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio). The end of Season 3 strongly hinted Pointdexter would evolve (or devolve, depending on how you look at it) into Bullseye, but then the show was canceled.
Pointdexter’s massacre at the beginning of “Heaven’s Half Hour” – the first episode of “Daredevil: Born Again” – makes it clear Pointdexter has embraced his Bullseye persona, even if he isn’t calling himself by that name yet. He’s more brutal and merciless than ever, slaughtering patrons of Josie’s Bar almost as afterthoughts as he battles Daredevil. You can also spot Bullseye symbols on his clothing, including his gloves.
Foggy Is Dead… Or Is He?
Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) is murdered by the vengeful Bullseye in “Heaven’s Half Hour”… maybe.
Don’t get us wrong, so far the “Daredevil” adaptations have had no problem killing off beloved characters. The Netflix series famously has Wilson Fisk murder Ben Urich (Vondie Curtis-Hall) in the first season.
We only doubt because of “The Devil, Inside and Out”, a “Daredevil” story that “kills off” Foggy Nelson early, only to later reveal him alive and well in Witness Protection.
Karen Is in San Francisco
After Bullseye’s sentencing, we learn Matt and Karen (Deborah Ann Woll) ghosted one another after Foggy’s death. Karen winds up moving to San Francisco without saying anything to Matt, though to be fair Matt ghosts her for weeks after Foggy’s death.
This is significant because, as much as Daredevil is seen as a creature of New York, the character has enjoyed a number of memorable comic book runs located in San Francisco. Could it be that “Daredevil: Born Again” will find its hero jumping coasts?
Vanessa Fisk Is as Much of a Crook as Wilson
It may not be much of a shock to longtime “Daredevil” comic book fans, but those who haven’t invested in the funny books may be surprised to learn just how well-versed in the criminal underworld Vanessa Fisk (Ayelet Zurer) is. When we first see her in “Daredevil: Born Again,” rather than fawning over Wilson, she’s smoothing over a potential crime boss conflict.
