The Thunder come in having won four games in a row and six of seven since the All-Star break, led by the league’s leading scorer and MVP candidate Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (32.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, 6.2 assists, 1.8 steals per game).
In their last game, the Thunder outlasted the Houston Rockets 137-128 behind an otherworldly performance by Gilgeous-Alexander, where he scored 51 points on 18-for-30 from the field (10-for-10 FT, 5-for-9 3P).
Memphis is in the midst of a pivotal point in their season, as they trail the Los Angeles Lakers by just 1.5 games for the No. 2 seed; they are only five games clear of the Minnesota Timberwolves for the No. 7 seed. They’ve lost three straight by a total of five points and are dealing with a litany of injuries, with Jaren Jackson Jr, Ja Morant, and Scotty Pippen Jr. all listed on the injury report for the matchup against the Thunder.
Oklahoma City has won both of the previous matchups (130-106 in OKC, 125-112 in Memphis) this season, with two more matchups remaining.
