Broncos Land Star LB Dre Greenlaw from 49ers in Massive $35 Million Signing
The Denver Broncos were one of the most surprising teams during the 2024 NFL season. Sean Payton and company were able to make a run to the playoffs and have set themselves up to be a potential AFC contender for years to come.
Led by young quarterback Bo Nix, the future could not be brighter. All the Broncos have to do is continue adding talent to their roster and they will continue rising up in the rankings of Super Bowl contenders.
Heading into free agency, Denver had a few needs to address. One of those needs happened to be finding help at the linebacker position.
With that in mind, the Broncos made a huge splash on day one of the legal tampering window.

According to a report from NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Denver has agreed to a three-year, $35 million contract with San Francisco 49ers’ star free agent linebacker Dre Greenlaw.

Greenlaw was a huge part of the 49ers’ run to the Super Bowl a couple of years back. Unfortunately, in the big game against the Kansas City Chiefs, Greenlaw suffered a freak injury.
As he was preparing to run onto the field on defense, Greenlaw ended up tearing his Achilles. That injury contributed to him missing all but two games of the 2024 season.
Back in 2023, Greenlaw showed what he’s capable of producing. He played in 15 games, racking up 120 total tackles to go along with 1.5 sacks and four defended passes.

He is known for playing with speed and athleticism and can range from sideline to sideline. That skill set is going to be a major help for the Broncos’ defense.
At just 27 years old, Greenlaw is a pickup both for the 2025 season and long term. If he can get back to full health, there is no question that he will become one of the main leaders of the Denver defense.
Expect to see the star linebacker come in and make a massive impact. Quite a few teams were hoping to land Greenlaw this offseason, but the Broncos will be very happy that they were able to beat out all of the other offers.
This move could end up going down as one of the biggest steals of the 2025 NFL free agency period.
