Buffalo Bills Land Joey Bosa in Surprisingly Massive Free Agency Move

The Buffalo Bills had been relatively quiet so far this offseason. They had made some small moves, but nothing that made fans jump out of their seats.

Now, that has changed.

Late on Tuesday night, the Bills made a big-time move in free agency. It’s the kind of move that will help make them a much more serious Super Bowl contender if everything works out the right way.

According to a report from ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, Buffalo and star free agent pass rusher Joey Bosa have agreed to a one-year, $12.6 million contract.

“ESPN source: Five-time Pro-Bowl DE Joey Bosa reached agreement tonight on a one-year, $12.6 million deal with the Buffalo Bills,” Schefter posted on X.

Bosa has struggled with many different injuries throughout his NFL career. They have derailed what could have been one of the best pass rushing careers in recent history.

Over the last three years, Bosa has played in five games in 2022, nine games in 2023, and 14 games in 2024. Last season was his healthiest year since 2021.

If he can stay healthy, Bosa will end up being a big-time addition for a Bills’ defense that has been needing help getting to the quarterback.

Speaking of the 2024 season, Bosa ended up recording 22 tackles, five sacks, and two forced fumbles in the 14 games he did play.

At 29 years old, Bosa will be playing on a “prove it” kind of contract. If he can put together a strong year, it’s possible that Buffalo would simply re-sign him to a longer contract. The Bills are being wise and safe with a one-year deal.

Buffalo has been so close to a Super Bowl in recent years. They have constantly been among the best teams in the NFL, but have come up short in the playoffs.

This past year, the Bills got all the way to the AFC Championship Game before losing to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Adding Bosa may not be the one move that powers them to a championship, but he could certainly help. Should he be able to stay healthy and play up to his full ability, he will make the defense much more dangerous.

Expect to see Buffalo continue to be active throughout the offseason. Signing Bosa is a great move, but there is still more work to be done if they can.
