‘Today’ Host Gets Body Modification on TV
Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors
Today host Savannah Guthrie has a new tattoo — and she got it while television cameras rolled. Guthrie, 53, was convinced to get some fresh ink while visiting with her friend, Drew Barrymore. The ladies met with tattoo artist Jonathan “JONBOY” Valena to create the perfect additions to their bodies.
Guthrie had her two kids, Vale, 10, and Charley, 8, draw some hearts on a piece of paper. She then looked over the drawings with JONBOY and chose one heart from each child to have tattooed together on her forearm.

“I only get tattoos with Drew,” Guthrie said in a video shared on Instagram on Wednesday, March 12. “My daughter says, ‘mom, every time you see Drew, you get a tattoo.’ Which is not true!” she added.
Later on in the segment, Guthrie admitted that she’s “not a tattoo person.”
“I never thought I’d get any tattoo, but we talked about it for years and Drew is very persuasive,” she said.
As for Barrymore, she got the word “time” written in her own handwriting. The tattoo features lowercase letters a little ways down from her wrist on the side of her arm.
“Looking at it, it’s exactly what I wanted,” Barrymore said.
As previously mentioned, this isn’t the first time that Guthrie and Barrymore got tattoos together. Back in 2023, Guthrie got her very first tattoo while with Barrymore. She had the words “all my love” inked on her arm. The words hold a special meaning for the morning anchor.
“This is an exact carbon copy of my father’s handwriting, ‘all my love,’ he wrote a love letter to my mom, and this is his writing. And so, That’s the first time in my life, I’m 51 years old, that I’ve had a tattoo, that I ever wanted a tattoo… And it’s not only his writing, so he’s with me, but I’m trying to make it my mantra for life,” Guthrie explained at the time.
