Washington Commanders Underrated in Latest Super Bowl Odds Following Successful Free Agency
The Washington Commanders struck gold last season, drafting a franchise quarterback with the second pick in the draft and making the NFC Championship as the sixth seed.
The only team they couldn’t overcome was the Eagles, who won their division and beat them on their way to winning the Super Bowl.
Heading into the 2025 season, the team is surprisingly not among the top favorites.

According to Super Bowl odds from ESPN, the team is shockingly seventh, behind surprising teams like the Detroit Lions, who they walloped in the playoffs last year, and the 49ers, who lost a lot of key pieces in free agency and finished last season 6-11.
While they had one great season, this offseason they seemed to get even better, making it surprising the Commanders aren’t among the top five favorites at least.

With Jayden Daniels likely to get even better in his second season after winning Rookie of the Year, it is hard to imagine the team not challenging the Eagles for the division and for the top seed in the NFC.
This season, the team added star left tackle Laremy Tunsil from the Houston Texans and wide receiver Deebo Samuel, coincidentally from the 49ers.
The Eagles lost some pieces on defense, making them slightly more vulnerable without a stellar draft. The division is open for the taking, meaning if the Commanders can also easily earn the top seed in the NFC.
The 49ers being the sixth favorite to win the Super Bowl next year seems insane and more based on past success rather than predicting future success.
They, like the Eagles, lost a few pieces on defense, and have to rely on some unknowns in their receiving core with Samuel now gone to help out Brock Purdy, who happens to be in an ongoing contract negotiation heading into the last year of his contract.
Brandon Aiyuk is returning from an MCL and ACL injury from the middle of last season, Jauan Jennings has limited experience as a full-time starter, and Ricky Pearsall is entering his second year in the league after missing games early in the season.
While some may agree with the Commanders not being among thetop-tierr favorites for the Super Bowl next season, the fact they are below the 49ers should be viewed as insulting.
Just as they did last season, the Commanders will be looking to prove the doubters wrong and challenge for the top team in the NFL next season.
They are certainly capable of it with the talent they have at their disposal.
