The 2024 Formula 1 season looked largely like the 2023 one, but this upcoming season is set to be one of the wildest in years and it gets going this weekend with the Australian Grand Prix.
Can Max Verstappen defend his title, or will the McLaren team of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri break through? And what about Ferrari, which added seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton this offseason?

It’s a year of change in F1, with almost every team making some kind of change. Drivers who start 2025 on new teams are Jack Doohan (Alpine), Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari), Esteban Ocon (Haas), Oliver Bearman (Haas), Nico Hulkenberg (Kick Sauber), Gabriel Bortoleto (Kick Sauber), Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes), Isack Hadjar (Racing Bulls), Liam Lawson (Red Bull) and Carlos Sainz (Williams).
Last year, this race was held as the third race of the year, with Sainz — then a Ferrari driver — winning by 2.366 seconds over Charles Leclerc. Will Ferrari have that same speed again this year, or will Lando Norris – third in this race last season – open the year strong?
