The Los Angeles Dodgers won their first exhibition game of the Tokyo Series 5-1 over the Yomiuri Giants thanks to an electrifying home run from Japanese superstar Shohei Ohtani. Michael Conforto and Teoscar Hernández also homered in the game as the defending World Series champs are off to a great start in 2025.
The Dodgers made it their mission to “paint Japan Dodger blue” with the addition of Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto last offseason, and now after also adding Roki Sasaki to the squad this year, it appears they have already achieved their goal. The trio of superstars are some of the top baseball players to ever come out of Japan, and they are now making their mark as members of one of the most historic franchises in MLB history.
Ohtani will look to add a second World Series ring and fourth MVP award to his trophy case this upcoming season after hitting 54 home runs and stealing 59 bases in his first season with the Dodgers. The scary part is that he has only shown half of his game in a Dodgers uniform, as he has yet to take the mound as a starting pitcher for his new team.
The Hanshin Tigers can only hope to contain this high-powered Los Angeles offense, and will also face some of the best pitchers in the world when they come to the plate.
