Gwen Stefani’s 14-year marriage to fellow musician Gavin Rossdale ended in divorce in 2016. Now, nine years later, the Bush frontman is making rare comments about their time together — and who helped with his post-breakup parenting.
Stefani, 55, and Rossdale, 59, have three sons together: Kingston, 18, Zuma, 16, and Apollo, 11. After their divorce, Rossdale admits he needed help with the kids after suddenly not having his wife around when it was his parenting time. And that’s when friend Jack McBrayer, of 30 Rock fame, stepped in.
“What’s so sweet about Jack is since I got divorced and was raising the kids on my own, he’s come to every Christmas and Thanksgiving that I do with my kids,” Rossdale — who is also father of Daisy Lowe, 36, whom he shares with Pearl Lowe — told Modern Family alum Jesse Tyler Ferguson on his podcast, Dinner’s On Me. “The last Thanksgiving, he sent me — and I posted it on my Instagram a little while ago — he sent me an invoice. For his presence!”

“Jack is the best,” Rossdale continued on the Tuesday, March 18 episode. “He’s wonderful. He’s a really good friend of mine.”
Rossdale met Stefani in 1995 when No Doubt opened for his band, Bush. The music “It” couple got married in 2002 and settled down in Los Angeles.
“It was such an exciting time,” Rossdale said. “I was there for a number of years when we were just together, when we got married. We had our first kid there.”
Rossdale even raved about his ex-wife’s home-life skills. “Gwen did a beautiful job on the nursery,” he said. “That house has fantastic memories. We used to have amazing New Year’s Eve parties every year. We never knew what to do, so it was easier to make the party come to us. Fantastic times.”
According to the musician, he and Stefani were at the height of their fame and young and in love.
“That was right at the height of everything really fun work-wise,” he said. “It was really a great time for us. So I have a great memory of that house. Beautiful time.”
Stefani has since remarried to country music star Blake Shelton, who is the stepfather to her three boys. Rossdale, for his part, is in a relationship with singer Xhoana X.
