After a fantastic stretch surrounding the All-Star break in which the Pistons won eight consecutive games, they’ve settled into a mediocre run, going 5-5 over their last 10 games. Most recently, they went on the road and demolished the New Orleans Pelicans 127-81, behind Cade Cunningham’s 24 points and eight assists. Simone Fontecchio nearly had a perfect game off the bench, scoring 23 points on 9-for-10 from the field and 5-for-5 from the 3-point line.
While the Heat have been struggling mightily, there is a silver lining in that they are 5.5 games clear of the No. 11 seed Toronto Raptors. Having lost eight games in a row, the Heat need a feel-good win to get them back in the right mindset heading into playoff time. In their most recent outing, they lost 116-95 to the New York Knicks, with Duncan Robinson and Tyler Herro combining to score 42 points.
This will be the final of four matchups this season between the Heat and Pistons, with the Pistons winning the last two matchups in overtime.
