After one of the most shocking midseason trades in NBA history, Luka Dončić makes his much-anticipated return to the American Airlines Center, where he played in parts of seven seasons with the Mavericks.
The Lakers are coming off a tough loss to the Thunder, in which Dončić was ejected after receiving a second technical foul. At the time of the infraction, Los Angeles was in a good position to pull off the upset, but could not withstand losing its best player. LeBron James did all he could without his running mate, scoring 28 points in defeat.
This is also a massive game for Anthony Davis, who will make his first start against his former team. Davis was the centerpiece in the Dončić trade, and he has been on fire over his last two games, scoring 61 points combined. The 2020 NBA champion will look to remind the Lakers fans what they are missing without his presence down low.
