A coal train was derailed when a powerful tornado struck Nebraska on Sunday evening.
Around 130 railcars located west of Ashby were derailed by the tornado, which hit at around 6.27 p.m., local outlet Nebraska Central reported.
There were two people on board the train at the time of the incident, but no injuries were reported. The train engine remained upright on the tracks.

Jorge Valdez
Jorge Valdez, who witnessed the scene after the storm had passed, told Nebraska Central: “Once I got to the train, I felt like I had to stop and make sure if it was the head end to make sure they were OK. Glad it was the tail end of the train. Once I got to the head end, I saw one of the train crew come out and looked like he was OK.”
He added: “It was unbelievable at first because it was my family and my first time witnessing something like that… we didn’t know what to do actually, so we just waited it out. Witnessed hail and strong winds.”
This is a breaking story. More to follow.
