Scary Triston Casas Injury Could Lead To Promotion Of MLB’s Top Prospect
🎙️ Voice is AI-generated. Inconsistencies may occur.
The Boston Red Sox came into the league with a plethora of talent, specifically in the infield. With Kristian Campbell emerging as one of the best second basemen in all of baseball, the Red Sox could be headed for a lot of success this year.
But they were recently dealt a crushing blow to one of their young infielders.
On a soft ground ball off the bat of Triston Casas, a play was made at first base, and Casas seemingly tripped on the first baseman’s foot and went down in a heap holding his left knee. Casas would need a stretcher and a cart to be taken off the field.
While it’s easy to try to diagnose the injury from a video, there won’t be any certainty until Casas undergoes testing. As of now, it’s very easy to assume it was a pretty severe injury for the young star.
But what does this mean for the Red Sox?

There are a few ways for the Red Sox to internally replace Casas, but the clearest route involves the elevation of MLB‘s top prospect, Roman Anthony.
Anthony, an outfielder, could slot into the designated hitter role for the Red Sox while Rafael Devers moves over to first base. This would allow Boston’s best prospect a chance to showcase his abilities at the highest level.
Devers, a natural third baseman, shouldn’t have much issue transitioning to first base. Anthony could become a part of a four or five-man outfield rotation while also filling in the DH role from time to time.
