Joe Biden’s Pardons Investigated by Justice Department: Report
🎙️ Voice is AI-generated. Inconsistencies may occur.
Pardons granted by former President Joe Biden are under investigation by the Department of Justice, according to a Reuters report.
Ed Martin, the pardon attorney in the justice department, emailed staff to say the probe will explore Biden’s competence and if people were “taking advantage of him through use of AutoPen or other means,” Reuters reported.
Biden’s mental capacity to serve as president has come under intense scrutiny in recent weeks after fresh reports of his cognitive decline while in office and the concerns some of his administration officials had at the time.
President Donald Trump and his allies have focused in on claims that an autopen was used to sign certain presidential orders and documents, leading them to question if Biden was fully aware of what was happening in his name.
Among Biden’s acts of clemency were pre-emptive pardons to his own family, as well as sparing dozens of federal inmates on death row from execution.
