WWE News: Dominik Mysterio Injured, Match at Night of Champions Canceled
On Monday Night RAW, general manager Adam Pearce informed AJ Styles that Intercontinental Champion “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio was injured and their match for the title at Night of Champions was officially canceled.
This news is particularly surprising since Mysterio hasn’t wrestled in a match since the June 9 episode of Raw and has been featured on television since then.

It remains to be seen if this is a legitimate injury or is simply a kayfabe reason for Mysterio to miss the event.

Mysterio won the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania, defeating Penta, Finn Balor, and previous champion Bron Breakker.
Mysterio has since defended the title three times: twice against Penta and once against Octagon Jr. at Money in the Bank.

The son of legendary luchador Rey Mysterio, Dominik Mysterio first entered WWE at a young age, make sporadic appearances in the 2000s. His most-remembered moment is when his father and Eddie Guerrero fought for custody in an iconic ladder match.
In 2019, Mysterio made his WWE television debut alongside his father. He would have his first official match in a Street Fight against Seth Rollins at SummerSlam 2020. The father-son duo would team up, defeating Rollins and Murphy in a tag team match at Payback.
Dominik and Rey would continue to team up as The Mysterios, winning the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship. However, in 2022, Dominik would turn on his father, joining Rhea Ripley, Damian Priest, and Finn Balor in The Judgement Day.

Since then, Mysterio has taken on a more villainous persona: hating his father, cheating to win, and turning on allies in order to do what’s best for him. And while he was originally booed for turning on his father, fans now love to hate him.
One of his most iconic storylines came when he turned on Ripley in order to join forces with Liv Morgan. Since then, all three Superstars have been some of the biggest in the company.
Mysterio is easily one of the brightest young talents on the WWE roster today. His transformation from simply being “Rey Mysterio’s son” to one of the best villains in professional wrestling today is worth significant praise.
