Aaron Rodgers Hosts Private Workout With Steelers Offense

Aaron Rodgers took his time in deciding if he would play in the NFL in 2025. After months of speculation, he finally signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers on June 7. That leaves little time to prepare for training camp, which is right around the corner for all 32 teams.

To make up for lost time, Rodgers chose to host a private workout, inviting most of his pass catchers to Malibu.

Rodgers alluded to bringing out players when he appeared on “The Pat McAfee Show,” where he stated, “I know coming out to Malibu might not be that high on everybody’s list, but we do have some guys coming out next week. So it’ll be fun to spend a little time with them.”

Among the players in the image shared by the Steelers are WRs Scotty Miller, Ben Skowronek, Calvin Austin, DK Metcalf and Roman Wilson, along with tight end Pat Freiermuth.

Clearly, Rodgers is taking his presumed final year in the NFL a bit more seriously. One of the biggest criticisms of the quarterback was taking the summer off in 2024 to have a spiritual journey, which was detailed in “Aaron Rodgers: Enigma” on Netflix.

Rodgers received plenty of criticism for taking a trip when training camp and OTAs were going on for the New York Jets.

Though Rodgers has received plenty of criticism, he is already getting to work with the Steelers offense. There have been plenty of reports regarding his work ahead of the 2025 regular season.

A recent report indicated that Rodgers and Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith had yet to come to a consensus about what the offense could look like with Rodgers behind center. Smith is known for running the ball, while Rodgers prefers an offense where he can plant his feet and sling the ball.

Both are searching for a “middle ground,” which have prompted Rodgers to bring in the pass catchers for the workout in Malibu. There is still training camp and preseason to iron out the details, but the Steelers need to get to work fast.

Pittsburgh lost George Pickens and Najee Harris, but gained Metcalf and Jonnu Smith. They need to create an offense that tailors to Rodgers’ strengths, so the team can take a crack at the Super Bowl in the quarterback’s final season.

Rodgers still has a good shot at leading this offense to new heights. Even under a Jets’ shaky offensive line, he delivered 3,8971 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions in 2024.

The Steelers have a good offensive line and some playmakers on offense that could propel the team to back-to-back postseason berths.
