Dachshund’s Unexpected Nap Spot Has Internet in Stitches: ‘Spoiled’

A dachshund’s unique morning ritual which includes snoozing on her owner’s shoulder while she brushes her teeth has melted the hearts of viewers on TikTok.

The red-shaded dachshund, named Tilly, was captured nestled in her owner’s arms, fast asleep as her owner stood at the bathroom sink and brushed her teeth. The short video, posted by Tilly’s owner under @leeseslife on July 2, has been watched more than 758,000 times and liked over 203,000 times to date, leaving many viewers in stitches.

Tilly’s owner, Analeese Hancock, 20, told Newsweek: “My dachshund and I are the best of friends!”

Describing her pet as a “velcro-dog,” Hancock said Tilly never wants to be far from her. The unexpected viral moment is just one example of their constant closeness.

“She never wants to leave my side,” Hancock, who is based in North Carolina, added.

Viewers were able to see Hancock brushing her teeth with surprising ease while holding a napping Tilly in her arms. At one point, the canine was filmed yawning as she continued to relax against her owner’s shoulder.

“She’s not spoiled but if she wants to take a nap while I brush my teeth (every single morning) I’m going to let her,” an overlaid text on the video read.

Since the post went viral, the outpouring of affection online has left Hancock and her husband feeling deeply moved.

“I’m honestly so overwhelmed, in the best way, by all the love and support on my TikTok,” she said. “Reading everyone’s sweet and kind comments seriously meant the world to me. I’m feeling so grateful and full of love right now.”

TikTok users had filled the comments section with laughter and adoration. Several related to the everyday intimacy of pet ownership captured in the clip, noting that routines like these often reflect a deeper emotional bond between people and their animals.

“My dachshund thought I was going to leave the house when I sat on my bed putting my leggings on this morning, so he put his little paw on my arm to stop me from dressing,” one viewer said.

“Girl same,” another added. “Tiny intimate moments are the sweetest with dachshunds. They really have the sweetest souls, they live for you.”

“My sister’s puppy sits beside me and rests his head on my leg and closes his eyes with his tail curled around us,” another said.
