Jhoan Duran Trade Sweepstakes Gaining Steam As Deadline Nears
🎙️ Voice is AI-generated. Inconsistencies may occur.
The Minnesota Twins have the chance to be the biggest player at the trade deadline this year. With most of the league still attempting to contend, the market is going to heavily favor the sellers.
The Twins were solid last year, but they’ve struggled this year, and it’s expected they will cut ties with a few of their better players at the trade deadline.
Some of the names being mentioned reside in the bullpen, but nobody is a bigger name in Minnesota right now than Jhoan Durán.
Durán, the team’s star closer, is expected to be traded either Wednesday or Thursday ahead of the trade deadline. MLB‘s Mark Feinsand recently suggested the Durán sweepstakes were heating up and noted the Twins closer could be traded on Wednesday night.

There have been a lot of teams reportedly showing interest in acquiring the closer, especially since he’s under team control through the 2027 season. A few of the top teams in the sweepstakes include the Philadelphia Phillies, Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees, and Toronto Blue Jays.
The Dodgers have been closely linked to Durán on Wednesday. Los Angeles has a lot of talent in its bullpen, but injuries have destroyed it.
The Phillies make a lot of sense. They’re typically aggressive at the trade deadline, and a postseason suspension for closer Jose Alvarado has Philadelphia in the market for an eligible closer.
Either way, it seems like the Durán sweepstakes is reaching its peak.
