West Ham United is off to a solid start in summer preseason play with a 2-0-1 record. In their most recent match, they edged Everton 2-1, thanks to goals from Lucas Paquetá and Niclas Füllkrug. Before that, West Ham dropped a close 2-1 match to Manchester United, with Jarrod Bowen scoring in the 63rd minute. They opened their preseason with a 3-1 win over Grasshoppers at GC Campus AG.
Bournemouth has mirrored that form, also posting a 2-0-1 record in preseason action. The Cherries began with a 2-1 win over Hibernian, followed by a commanding 3-0 shutout of Everton, featuring goals from Philip Billing, Dango Ouattara, and Daniel Adu-Adjei. Most recently, Bournemouth suffered a 4-1 loss to Manchester United, with their lone goal coming via an 88th-minute own goal by United’s Matthijs de Ligt.
Last season, Bournemouth put together an impressive campaign, finishing ninth in the Premier League with 56 points from 38 matches. The Cherries earned 15 wins, 11 draws, and 12 losses, scoring 58 goals while conceding 46—good for a solid +12 goal differential.
West Ham United, meanwhile, had a more disappointing season. The Hammers finished lower in the table with 43 points from their 38 games, recording 11 wins, 10 draws, and 17 losses. They struggled on both ends of the pitch, ending the season with a -16 goal differential.
