Jellyfish Force Shutdown of Nuclear Reactor

Jellyfish entered the pumping station of a French nuclear power plant, forcing it to shut down one of its reactors, the energy company EDF said in a statement.
EDF’s Paluel nuclear plant in northern France was affected. EDF shut down the reactor at 9 p.m. local time on Wednesday, September 3, and also lowered the power of another reactor at the nuclear plant as a precaution.
It said work is ongoing to restore full power to both of the reactors.
Jellyfish arrived in the filters, EDF said, located in the non-nuclear part of the plant, where pumping stations take in seawater used to cool its nuclear facilities.
