Ryder Cup: Team Europe Reportedly Schedules Bethpage Black Scouting Trip
Preparations for the Ryder Cup are in full swing, with organizers and teams working diligently. The captains have already finalized their 12-man rosters and are now fine-tuning plans to get their players in peak form for the event.
In this regard, it has been revealed that the European team has already planned a private practice at Bethpage Black to scout the course. A report by Golf Digest, citing the Golf Channel, states that this practice will last two days.
Although the exact date of the Europeans’ presence at Bethpage Black has not yet been made public, it is known that it will occur after the DP World Tour’s BMW PGA Championship, which will be played from Sept. 11-14. According to the report, the team will immediately board a charter flight to carry out its reconnaissance mission.

It was also reported that after the practice, all team players will remain in the United States to acclimatize to the schedule. Shane Lowry confirmed this information, even stating that captain Luke Donald wants all his players to stay in the same time zone, even if they travel outside of New York.
“I think he (Donald) wants people to stay in the same time zone,” Lowry said ahead of competing in this week’s Amgen Irish Open, according to the transcripts of his pre-event presser. “We live in that time zone anyway. I’m not sure if I’m going to go home to Florida for a couple days and see my kids or stay in New York and practice there. I think he means people staying on the same time zone, which will obviously help the week of the Ryder Cup.”
Three players who will represent Europe in the upcoming Ryder Cup — Lowry, Rory McIlroy and Tyrrell Hatton — are playing this week in the Irish Open. At the same time, 11 of the 12-member team will be playing in the BMW PGA Championship, with Sepp Straka the only one currently absent from the entry list.
Captain Donald will also be on the course at the Wentworth Club, so he will be able to see his team’s form firsthand.
The American team isn’t sitting idly by. Ten of the team members, led by world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, will be playing in the Procore Championship as part of their preparation. The only exceptions are Xander Schauffele and Bryson DeChambeau.
Both teams will have the opportunity to play at Bethpage Black during practice sessions scheduled for the week of the event. However, these practice sessions will not be private but are open to the public.
