A car was driven at members of the public and a man was stabbed outside a synagogue in Manchester, UK, on Thursday morning, police said.
Four people were injured in the incident. The suspect was shot by armed police.
The incident at the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in Crumpsall took place on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar.

In a series of posts on X, Greater Manchester Police said they were called to the synagogue shortly after 9:30 a.m.
A member of the public told police he had witnessed a car being driven toward members of the public and that one man had been stabbed.
Minutes later, armed police were on the scene and the suspect was shot by firearms officers.
“One man has been shot, believed to be the offender,” the police force said.
Police said it had “declared Plato,” which is Britain’s national code-word used by police and emergency services when responding to a “marauding terror attack.” There was no confirmation the incident was a terror attack.
Prime Ministyer Keir Starmer said in a statement: “I’m appalled by the attack at a synagogue in Crumpsall.
“The fact that this has taken place on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar, makes it all the more horrific.
“My thoughts are with the loved ones of all those affected, and my thanks go to the emergency services and all the first responders.”
