Two Children Killed, Two More Injured in Texas Shooting


A 4-year-old and 13-year-old were fatally shot early Saturday morning in Angleton, Texas, in an incident that also critically injured two other children, the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office said in a social media post.

What To Know

In an early Saturday morning update, police announced a roadway closure in Angleton noting that “heavy first responder presence” has shuttered the road.

About an hour later, around 6:30 a.m., local time police published an updated statement on Facebook, writing, “Earlier today, deputies responded to a tragic incident involving a shooting near Angleton, TX. Preliminary information indicates that two children, ages 13 and 4, were fatally shot, and two others, ages 8 and 9, were transported by Life Flight in critical condition.”

It is not known which hospitals they were transported to.

The investigation is still ongoing and the police have not released any information about the shooting, motive, or suspects.

The sheriff’s office said in its Facebook post that “all individuals believed to be involved have been detained, and there is no ongoing threat to the community.” Local news station KHOU 11 reported that an adult woman was taken into custody in relation to the incident.

Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office said in a Saturday Facebook post: “While details are still developing, the loss of two children in such a manner is a tragedy. Our thoughts are with the family and everyone affected as we continue to learn more about this heartbreaking situation.”

What Happens Next?

Police are continuing to investigate the incident and the two injured children are receiving care for their injuries. Fox 26 Houston and KHOU 11 reported that Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is assisting with the investigation.

Information on those involved in the incident are expected to be released in the coming days.
