Chiefs Announce Concerning Injury News Before Jaguars Game

The Kansas City Chiefs had the day off on Sunday while the rest of the league was in action, as they prepared for their “Monday Night Football” showdown against the Jacksonville Jaguars and a chance to extend their winning streak to three games.

However, on Sunday night, some concerning news surfaced on the Chiefs’ injury report. Star wide receiver Xavier Worthy, who just returned last week after recovering from a shoulder injury suffered in Week 1, was downgraded to questionable for Monday’s game with a shoulder/ankle designation, despite practicing all week.

“Xavier Worthy (shoulder/ankle) is now questionable for Monday night’s game,” the Chiefs announced.

This news comes as a surprise to many, as Worthy had emphasized earlier in the week that he felt good — a confidence he backed up in Week 4 during the Chiefs’ win over the Ravens.

Worthy led the team with five receptions for 83 yards and added two carries for 38 yards. Since being drafted in 2024, he has emerged as the team’s premier wide receiver, and his presence has made a significant impact on Kansas City’s offense. With Worthy on the field last week, the Chiefs scored 37 points, compared to just 22, 17, and 21 points in the three games prior without him.

If Worthy is unable to play, Kansas City would likely rely on Tyquan Thornton, who has been a solid contributor this season, along with JuJu Smith-Schuster, Marquise “Hollywood” Brown, and the tight end group of Travis Kelce, Robert Tonyan, and Noah Gray.
